Environment Helpers

Wow! South Stars are getting greener each year. As the students and staff became more aware of what and how to recycle, we doubled the amount of recycling we collected during the last school year. Now we are picking up recycling twice a week and becoming more interested in recycling new items.

South is teaming up with TerraCycle, a company that collaborates with producers of items that can be tricky to recycle. TerraCycle will take the items and donate money to the school or to a non-profit organization of our choice. We could even plant a tree. This year we will be collecting juice pouches! We could earn up to $.03 a pouch but we need to send them in 50 pound shipments. If everyone works together we can make a difference in the environment and in our school.

Because of the GREAT response to America Recycles Day last November, we will be upping our game this year. We will hold a community drop off of juice pouches on November 13, 2013. We will pledge to recycle more that day and you can join us! Start by saving your juice pouches. No need to rinse them or even take out the straws. We can even take juice pouches with a spout! Help us be aware of our impact on the planet. Together er can change the world!
